The Ridgewood High School Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 2004 to honor the athletic achievements of Ridgewood High School student-athletes, coaches, teams and individuals who are deemed to have had a major and lasting impact on the athletic program at RHS. The purpose of this commemorative body is to unite the school’s athletic history with the functions and goals of the present day school district. The Hall of Fame will attempt to promote sportsmanship and citizenship, as well as athletic and academic accomplishment, through the recognition and selection of deserving individuals and teams into the Ridgewood High School Athletic Hall of Fame
Candidates must represent substantial accomplishment not only on the athletic field, but also show a responsible amount of accomplishment academically as a student athlete during their days at RHS.
Candidates for the Hall of Fame must be recognized as having been outstanding in their sports at the league, county, state and if appropriate, national levels. Coaches must have a proven and long tenured career whereby they are not only successful with regard to wins and losses, but have also had a noteworthy and well recognized influence on their student-athletes.
The Hall of Fame will not be limited to individuals only. In the years since competitive interscholastic athletics was introduced as an extracurricular event at Ridgewood High School for both boys and girls (research suggests around 1903-04), there have been many outstanding athletes, coaches and teams.
The Ridgewood High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee reserves the right to recognize entire teams or parts of teams should it deem it appropriate.
The committee also reserves the right to recognize significant individuals or groups that are aligned with but not directly affiliated with the Ridgewood High School who have had a major positive impact on the quality of the athletic program at Ridgewood High School.
The RHS Hall of Fame Committee reserves the right to change or modify the criteria for induction into the Ridgewood High School Hall of Fame and it openly welcomes nominations and information supporting nomination of candidates for induction from all potential sources.
The Ridgewood Athletic Hall of Fame is affiliated with the Ridgewood Public Schools and acts as a representative body of Ridgewood High School as designated by the Ridgewood Board of Education. The Ridgewood High School Athletic Hall of Fame receives no financial support from publicly designated funds appropriated for use by the Ridgewood Public Schools.
